The bombard (or bombarde) is a loud shawm (oboe) commonly used in the Breton area of France. It is fingered like a tin whistle with an extra hole to allow one note below the stated key. Although it requires a very high breath pressure and is usually not played for extended periods of time, it gives off a very distinct and powerful tone. Often used in a duet along with the Biniou-Kozh or the Scottish Bagpipe. The bombarde is blown by the mouth; the reed is held between the lips.
Pitched in B flat, it plays a diatonic scale over two octaves. $205.00$123.00
