The Shofar carries with it a vast and important history, dating as far back as biblical times. According to the Mishna, two different forms of shofar were used in the Temples. The ibex horn, ornamented with gold, was sounded at New Year and during the Yovel Days. The ram's horn, with silver ornamentation, was sounded on fast days. Ours are authentic, hand cut ram's horn from the Yemen region. As they are natural horns, sizes will vary, the terms small, large, or extra large dictated by the number of twists in the playable horn rather than overall length. The Extra large Yemenite shofar exhibits a twist range of 1 turn up to 2 1/2 turns, sounding in three or more distinct notes. $270.00
