While the double bass of the violin family has been around for hundreds of years it wasn't until 1935 that the bass guitar made it's debut in the music world, crafted by Paul Tutmark of Seattle Washington. Mexico's traditional music features several types of acoustic bass guitars, the Guitarron, a very large, deep-bodied, 6-string acoustic bass guitar played in Mariachi bands, the Leon, plucked by a pick, and the bajo quinto and bajo sexto with five and six pairs of strings respectively. Further developments of Acoustic bass guitar occurred in the 1960's and 70's, chiefly by the Ernie Ball Co., to help define the instruments that we know today.

All of our acoustic bass guitars are shop-adjusted by our in-house luthier prior to purchase to assure you of a great playing instrument right out of the case!
