A 14th century small guitar-like instrument, the Gittern was popular with minstrels and amateur musicians. Features the traditional fretless fingerboard, with four coursed strings tuned in unisons of D, G, C and F. The gittern offers astounding tone for its small size, with select solid hardwoods body and solid spruce top,with rosewood pegs, fingerboard, and bridge. Played with a plectrum.
