The heart of this M David Mandolin 2 Point Mandolin is the X braced Carpathian Spruce soundboard with oval sound hole, joined to a body and neck of Curly Red Maple. The neck is 32mm or 1.25” at the nut and carved with a volute where it meets the peghead and fitted with a carbon fiber truss rod for strength. The flat fret board is made of Indian Rosewood, and the peghead is faced with sycamore veneer.
Other attributes include a bone nut, tortoise shell celluloid bindings on body, peghead and fretboard, a celluloid rosette surrounds the sound hole. The instrument is fitted with Evo Gold fretwire, Rubner Classis Gold tuners with black buttons, an adjustable ebony bridge, custom engraved Bill James tail piece and Siminoff medium “Straight Up Strings” for mandolin. Satin lacquer finish.
It’s a beautiful instrument with a comfortable neck and good tone, volume and sustain and is suitable for many types of music, from bluegrass to classical but maybe more at home in an Irish session than a bluegrass jam.
Comes with a hard case.
