The Vietnamese Dan Tranh comes from the same line of instruments as the Chinese guzheng, Korean kayagum and Japanese koto. With a long wooden body and convex sound board, the body is decorated with ornate inlaid mother-of-pearl. There are moveable bridges used for tuning and support. The bridges are made of wood, and the plain steel strings are tuned to the pentatonic scale. Artists usually wear picks made of metal, plastic, or tortoise-shell to pluck the strings.

This 19-string instrument has almost a four-octave range, from C to G4.

Comes with fingerpicks, wooden tuning key, some extra strings and a hard carrying case.
