Plucked Strings - Others 5-Course Gittern
A 14th century small guitar-like instrument, the Gittern was popular with minstrels and amateur musicians. Features the traditional fretless fingerboard, with five coursed strings tuned in unisons of C, F, C, D, and G. This one is based on a surviving instrument by Hans Oth, has a solid, carved pine body, like the rebec, with a laminate top, walnut fingerboard with simple decorative inlays and tied on frets, and a walnut bridge.
