In Tibetan Buddhism the singing bowl is used as a meditational object. The bowl is a representation of the infinite feminine and the Dorje or wooden piece is a representation of the masculine. Together they create balance. The sound that is made when the two parts are used together is called the Om.
In Buddhism this is the sound of creation; the sound that all things have originated from and the sound that all thing will return to. The Om is the most emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and psychically healing sound that is known. Simply tap the included wooden mallet against the edge of the bowl and draw it around the top outer edge of the bowl until the Om resounds.
