This German-crafted tenor recorder from Hohner combines traditional Baroque design with professional-grade craftsmanship. Built for intermediate to advanced players, it delivers the warm, resonant tone that Hohner recorders have been known for generations.
Construction & Materials
Crafted from rich hardwood with a glossy reddish-brown finish, this three-piece recorder features precision-turned decorative rings at each joint and a carefully tapered bore for optimal tone production. The baroque-style fingering includes seven finger holes on top and a double thumb hole on the back. Two metal keys with protective guards on the foot joint extend the instrument's range to reach the lowest notes with ease. Cork or thread joints ensure airtight connections between the head, middle, and foot sections.
Sound & Playability
The hardwood construction and professional bore design produce a rich, clear tone across the full range. The curved windway and precisely drilled tone holes allow for excellent articulation and dynamic control. The baroque fingering system offers authentic period performance capability while remaining accessible to players transitioning from soprano or alto recorders. The key mechanisms provide reliable access to low C and C-sharp, essential for serious repertoire.
Condition & Details
This pre-owned instrument is in very good condition, showing natural patina consistent with careful use. The finish remains intact and well-maintained with no significant scratches, cracks, or damage. Freshly cleaned and oiled, the wood shows even color and proper joint fitting. Both keys are intact and properly positioned, and all hardware functions smoothly. Minor cosmetic blemishes reflect its history as a played instrument.

This was my first ever Hardanger, so I basically wanted a "Squier" version of a Hardanger: an entry level Hardanger to learn on that was new and solid but wouldn't break the bank. This has been pretty much perfect and just what I wanted.I love playing it.
Beautiful amazing instrument! Easy and fun to play! Highly recommended! Great customer service and fast shipping!!
Jackie arrived, nicely packed and in rapid order... much lighter than I expected, thank goodness as the instrument is attached to the player by their thumbs (and mine are kind of old).
I never thought that it would be so challenging for me to learn play ... so different from anything I've tried before... I can feel the neurons in my brain sparking and protesting. Actually, it feels good to build new pathways. The cat is none too pleased with my new endeavor. However, Jackie is a beautiful instrument, well made and of good quality. I'm sure, in time, we'll become the best of friends.
Thanks to all at Lark in the Morning for making my experience so pleasant and trouble free. <3
The external Twin Spot works great on my Irish Bouzouki. I've scotched taped the pickup heads and wires it in place for easy adjustment, and the pick up sensitivity is very good. I'm running it through my guitar DI box for increased sensitivity and tone control.
I think that every household should have a buffalo horn. We are now the proud owners of a fine horn which we obtained from Lark in the morning. It will be handy for calling in the children from play, and signaling to the neighbors across the river.
