Nicely made bamboo quena.
The quena is an end-blown woodwind instrument consisting of a hollow tube with holes cut for notes. It is played by placing the mouthpiece under the bottom lip & blowing. Originally constructed of animal bone or bamboo shoots, some Quenas today are made of wood. The smallest is called a 'Quenilla' & the largest is called a 'Quenacho'. Although its origin is unclear, the Quena has been found in nearly all countries of Latin America.

When I first saw the goatskin, I wasn’t sure if it was what I was looking for but I tried it out, it’s pretty much perfect, I make traditional Yupik drums that come from southwest Alaska, in my language, the Yugtun, language we call out drums a cauyaq, and the drum head is traditionally a stomach membrane of a walrus or seal. As someone who lives in modern age, we have contemporary styles and goatskin is one of our contemporary style. For this application it works great.
I read about sistrums in a fantasy adventure book and had to have one! Lark listed one I could afford that combines old crafting techniques with bottle caps! The delivery was quick. I played around with it and was surprised at all the different chimes and riffs it could make. Right now it is displayed with my also-African-made soda can lion. I'm happy!
Nice sound
This was my first ever Hardanger, so I basically wanted a "Squier" version of a Hardanger: an entry level Hardanger to learn on that was new and solid but wouldn't break the bank. This has been pretty much perfect and just what I wanted.I love playing it.
Beautiful amazing instrument! Easy and fun to play! Highly recommended! Great customer service and fast shipping!!
