Ankle Bells, 25 on a String
Ankle Bells, 25 on a String
SKU:BEL265
Total of 50, 5/8" brass bells. 25 bells are braided into each cord. Bells are primarily worn by Indian dancers on their ankles or wrists to accent their movements. You can also hang them on your drums. They will add just the right sound to lots of activities.
Ankle bells as traditionally used in the North Indian style of dance called Kathak. The Karthak dance evolved from the nomadic bards of ancient northern India, known as Kathakars or storytellers. Over the centuries, Kathak dance incorperted dance elements from Persia and Central Asian; today it is a rich art form with traces of Tribal, bhakti, temple and ritual movement.
The northern Indian State of Uttar Pradesh is well known for quality brass manufacturers. Once cast, these solid brass bells are transported to Mumbai (Bombay) on the west coast, for assembly and export.
The length of each strand of bells will vary depending on the amount of loose ends. In general there are 2 bells for every inch of cording. The loose-ends of the cording can be 8"-12" each. To get the overall length of each strand of bells, take the number of bells and divide by 2, then add 20".

I am very happy with the quality of the instrument. I am of Puerto Rican decent and it reminds me of my childhood, watching the musicians and learning to play myself. It is a beautiful guiro and sounds amazing.
It's great to be able to buy a hurdy gurdy in the US without having to wait for 6 months to a year or more. The Aplo is a quality entry level instrument that produces beautiful sound. It resonates very well and there are no buzzes or squeaks. Workmanship is very good. I got mine cottoned, rosined and tuned in a half hour. The transaction was easy and it arrived within a week.
I've been able to play some tunes on it with only a few hours of practice. It's going to be a lot of fun.
I love it, the entonation is really very good (sorry for my bat english).
Regards!
My wife has unbelievable rhythm and always taps along with music. The tunable was a surprise gift she instantly loved and played along with an old Steve Miller CD.
I was fortunate to have an opportunity to play a Nash Tavewa clay drone flute while on vacation. You cannot play one and not want to add one of these fabulous flutes to your collection. In a search for one of Nash’s flutes I found that Lark in the Morning knows quality instruments and seen they carried Nash Tavewa’s beautiful flutes. I ordered this beautiful Nash Tavewa harmony drone which shipped and arrived quickly. The voice of this flute is spectacular and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing it daily. I have many wood Native American Style flutes in my collection but this clay flutes voice is unique and transending. If you are a flute player and do not have a Nash Tavewa clay flute in your collection I would highly recommend reaching out to Lark in the Morning to see what they may have available and or what may be coming. Lark in the Morning obviously knows their great artisan’s and unique instruments. Thank you Lark in the Morning for having that perfect Nash Tavewa Clay Harmony flute I was looking for to add to my collection!
