Gusty Spotted Oak Didgeridoo

Gusty's didges are all special: 
They weigh slightly more than air.
The slender bores play really easily.
The fat bells make them louder than your average trombone.
They have a few usable trumpet tones that pop up easily -- Except this one didge.

I think of the trumpet tones on this didge as "hidden". This didge has just one trumpet tone, right on the octave, but it is really hard to elicit. I almost didn't buy this one, but then I discovered something new and cool. I do a couple of different glissando techniques, glissando meaning a glide from one pitch to another. I can go really high with either technique, kinda sounding like a dive bombing wasp. The didge has a dive bombing wasp drawn on the bell. It suddenly all made sense, I could glissando hard and the tone never got stuck on an overtone (trumpet tone). 

So the name deserves an explanation, about the Oak thing. All of Gusty's didges are made from 1/8th inch 2 ply marine grade plywood that is Birch on one side and Mahogany on the other. This one has the Birch on the outside. For kicks and giggles, Gusty daub painted on the brown spots making them look like a natural feature. Confused clients would typically ask what wood it was made from as the brown marks look built in by nature. Gusty would reply coyly, "Spotted Oak" even though no such wood existed. That is a tradition that must be carried forward.

Just in case you asked, the cords wrapped around the didge never fall off. The epoxy used is really heavy duty and I've never had any wrap come loose on any Gusty didge.
