The colorful tones of the guitar are well suited to the music of Ireland and Scotland. Jody Stecher has developed a unique approach to flatpicking Celtic music drawing on the sounds and techniques of the harp, fiddle and pipes. This lesson presents a graded course starting with simpler fingering with special attention to picking techniques. Building on a base of a confident and deliberate right hand, more challenging left hand work I gradually introduced. The typical ornaments of Celtic music are shown to be manageable and effective on the guitar – including rolls, which have been thought by some to be too difficult to achieve on the instrument. Jody presents memorable tunes in the keys of G, D and A which are played in either dropped-D or standard tuning. A detailed tab/music instructional booklet is included as a PDF file on the DVD. I already play a mountain lap dulcimer, but this one gives the instrument a whole different dimension to playing. Really beautiful craftsmanship. Thus isn’t a toy, but a lovely wooden instrument. Very easy to play!

Multifacsited approach to something fun to do!

Plays like a dream. I have MS and am no longer able to play guitar, but this uke let's me play songs again and sing. I had no idea how much I'd missed having music in my body. Thanks, Lark!

I love these little hand carved wood whistles from Brazil

These are great! They have a grand sound!
