Equipped with four mechanical geared right-angle tuners with a 14:1 ratio, this model includes four strings: two melody strings, one middle string, and one bass drone string. Historically, mountain dulcimers featured three equally spaced strings, but modern advancements have led to the creation of a 4-string dulcimer by doubling the melody string, enhancing the volume of the melody line.
