This is a mint condition electric version of the taishōgoto produced by Suzuki. It comes with a case, case cover (hand-made by the original owner).
The taishōgoto, also known as the Nagoya harp, is a Japanese stringed musical instrument that first appeared during the Taishō period (1912–1926). Developed in 1912 in Nagoya by musician Gorō Morita, the taishōgoto combines features of a typewriter with a musical instrument.
When playing, the instrument is placed in the player's lap or on a stand, with the right wrist resting on the instrument as the strings are plucked with a plectrum. Some taishōgoto instruments have a larger, deeper body to enhance the acoustics.
Taishōgoto instruments come in different types, including soprano (5 or 6 strings), alto (4 or 5 strings), tenor, and bass (1 or 2 strings). The melody strings are typically tuned to G octaves, while the drone strings are tuned to D. Some instruments have six strings, with two acting as drones and four being keyed. All six strings may be tuned to the same note (G) but in different octaves.
The taishōgoto bears resemblance to the bulbul tarang from India, the benju from Pakistan, and the akkordolia from Germany. It gained popularity as an amateur pastime in Japan and is still played today, often by people who perform Japanese and Western popular songs on electrically amplified instruments.

This was my first ever Hardanger, so I basically wanted a "Squier" version of a Hardanger: an entry level Hardanger to learn on that was new and solid but wouldn't break the bank. This has been pretty much perfect and just what I wanted.I love playing it.
Beautiful amazing instrument! Easy and fun to play! Highly recommended! Great customer service and fast shipping!!
Jackie arrived, nicely packed and in rapid order... much lighter than I expected, thank goodness as the instrument is attached to the player by their thumbs (and mine are kind of old).
I never thought that it would be so challenging for me to learn play ... so different from anything I've tried before... I can feel the neurons in my brain sparking and protesting. Actually, it feels good to build new pathways. The cat is none too pleased with my new endeavor. However, Jackie is a beautiful instrument, well made and of good quality. I'm sure, in time, we'll become the best of friends.
Thanks to all at Lark in the Morning for making my experience so pleasant and trouble free. <3
The external Twin Spot works great on my Irish Bouzouki. I've scotched taped the pickup heads and wires it in place for easy adjustment, and the pick up sensitivity is very good. I'm running it through my guitar DI box for increased sensitivity and tone control.
I think that every household should have a buffalo horn. We are now the proud owners of a fine horn which we obtained from Lark in the morning. It will be handy for calling in the children from play, and signaling to the neighbors across the river.
