Adondo or Talking Drums have many uses in African societies. During birth, initiation and death, the sound of the drum is present. They are made from various objects including calabash, gourds, wood, and bamboo. "Talking Drums" are widely used in Ghana, especially by the Ashantis. They send messages of happiness, sorrow, war etc. to other tribes through the beating of the drum.
