The Vega brand dates back to the late 1800s in Boston, Massachusetts. Originally a musical instrument company making a wide range of instruments (including mandolins and guitars), Vega became renowned for its banjos by the early 20th century.
Vega banjos were especially popular during the jazz age and folk revival eras, with legendary players like Pete Seeger famously using custom long-neck Vega banjos. That association helped define the Vega sound for generations: warm, clear, and mellow, perfect for clawhammer, frailing, and melodic styles.
